![]() ![]() It hopefully will be a solution for any family in areas where cell service is bad and cable/internet are not available. We will update you to let you know how this goes. Sarah Maye has worked with the Clemson Tiger team to upload the recorded live sessions to a USB for a student that doesn't have internet access and wifi signal is not good enough to do streaming. They have gotten over 70 additional laptops into the hands of our students this week and have 10-15 additional ones that are ready and are in the process of scheduling for pick up. Roush, DJ, Shannon, and the front office ladies worked all week to get laptops distributed quickly and exchange any with issues. ![]() People appreciate us being attentive and following up quickly after they have submitted their information. Thank you to our counselors for working in the new online enrollment system to pull kids and get assigned classes and teachers quickly, even if the kids have to wait to get on LIVE. Some of the steps rely on people outside of our school, which means we have to have patience. We know things are easier when we kids are in our system and emails are created, but it is a process with steps that we have to go through. If a student is still in green on our Needs Schedule form, more than likely the student hasn't been released from their previous school, yet. Alex is working with Marci to adjust our schedules for EC students. Most students are scheduled correctly in PowerSchool. I am going to drop the absence/leave in the staff handbook and update the student handbook link on our website. They both have COVID sections and are in our Google Drive. Our student and staff handbooks were approved this week, too. The BIG take away is let me know what is going on and we will be as flexible as we can be. These were approved by LCS Human Resources. LCS Middle Schools put together leave/absence procedures and guidelines during Plan C. Students awaiting for an account will have to be sent the recordings. Email addresses outside our organization have to be accepted and approved before being able to come in. Do NOT allow someone in a Meet with an outside LCS email. We are calling parents, talking to students and documenting the incident in ABE. Email admin ASAP and we will contact administration from the school where the student currently is enrolled. If someone is in your Meet that is not your student, mark the name down, and knock them out. I know it is difficult since you are just getting used to those that you do have. Check your attendance during live time and monitor your names.Don't forget to wash your hands often and stay 6 feet away from others. If you need an area to be maskless during the day, please let Evan know and he will assign you a spot to work.If you share an office or stop by someone's room, you must have on a mask at all times. If you are in the presence of anyone in our building, you must wear a mask.I want to thank these three ladies for giving all they have to our team and helping to make SLMS such a great place to be. Sonja Morgan, Custodian, will be going to work at J.Lauren Black, EC teacher, will be going to teach at Grace Christian School after Sept 4.Today is Staci's last day in our building. Staci Thomas, 8th grade ELA teacher, will be retiring after August 31.I want to catch you up on information dealing with our Stallion Family: and everything worked out so well, we all learned a lot that year, but most of all we realized how we can do anything if we work together. I won't bore you with all the details, but will go straight to the end. So now I get to tell the story about the year we had these three plans, A, B, and C.and how I had this AMAZING team I worked with that did everything in their power to make the best of whatever plan we were asked to do. It was probably the precursor to my current state of mind of being so overly cautious about transportation changes and safety in general. It turned out alright in the end, but I certainly learned lots of lessons that day. They ended up on the wrong buses and in different parts of town. It will be right there with the story I tell about the two Stephanie's I had one of my first years teaching kindergarten with 32 kids neither spoke English and didn't know their last name. This has been the most memorable start to any school year in my 28 years of being in education. ![]()
